A specialist centre based in the Richmond borough is seeking to appoint an SEN teacher with autism experience and who can teach PSHE. This is the borough’s centre for the specialist education of secondary school children with a Statement of Special Educational Needs and a diagnosis of Autistic Spectrum Disorder. This is the third year of a five year development phase and when full, the centre can accommodate twenty students in Years 7 to 11. It also offers the chance for students to benefit from the wide opportunities for education and extra-curricular activities in mainstream school while also receiving specialist social and life skills support to make their inclusion successful, for students are included in mainstream classes as far as is appropriate to their needs.
